You may or may not have experience with matters relating to real estate law, but even if you do, there may be several things you don’t know about it that you should. At Bright Law, PLLC, we strive to ensure our clients are informed and provide the guidance they need on their legal matters, which is why we would like to share a few facts about real estate law.

What to Know About Real Estate Law

  • Each State Has Its Own Laws – Real estate law involves different laws in different states, which means you need to make sure your attorney is licensed to practice real estate law in your state. But while North Carolina may have some of its own laws (for instance, the state requires a closing attorney for residential transactions), real estate law is still regulated on the federal level. The Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA) is an example of federal legislation every state must follow.
  • Laws Are Always Changing – Real estate law is dynamic, as are most other areas of law. When you hire a skilled, capable attorney, you can rest assured that they will be up to date with any changes in legislation so that you can always receive accurate guidance and legal advice.
  • Real Estate Law Is Fairly Broad – Real estate law covers titles, deeds, zoning, property taxes, estate planning, and more. It essentially encompasses legal matters pertaining to the possession or inhabitation of land.
